WIP to Rear Extension and Reconfiguration

This 1920’s detached villa, while well proportioned and with large windows and high ceilings, needed some updates and additions to bring it up to date, with modern day family living requirements.

Studio Arkell were tasked with a significant design wish-list from our clients who requested:

  • a large family kitchen with direct access to open plan living, dining space and the rear garden
  • a generous utility room to reorientate the side positioned front door to a front and central position with plentiful cloakroom storage
  • a large master suite and further en-suite bathrooms to two of the bedrooms

Studio Arkell gained planning permission for the addition of a rear single storey extension, plus an additional extension over the garage to the side. These extensions, along with internal reconfigurations, the final design iteration ticked all the requirements on the client’s wish-list.

Whilst the property is currently mid-way through its significant transformation, these pictures show just what you can achieve when designing hand in hand at Studio Arkell, and how it is to live at home with work in progress.
